BIODIVERSITY IN

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Southern California is a biodiversity hotspot under a great deal of pressure. Climate change is expected to affect important environmental factors that support the region's ecosystems, while continued urban development presents a direct, immediate threat to sensitive species.

The Biodiversity Atlas of Los Angeles County examines the current state of biodiversity in Los Angeles, in the hopes of contributing to regional sustainability efforts and the preservation of the region's biodiversity.

The Atlas has been developed by UCLA Geography as part of UCLA Grand Challenges Sustainable LA.
